Specialist Resource Base Lead Teacher job summary
The SRB forms part of a county wide programme of SRB provision as part of Norfolk’s Local Offer to children, young people with special educational needs and their families. The SRB is a beacon of excellence in inclusive education, underpinned by our child centred approach and informed by evidence based practice. The SRB is an additionally resourced provision which provides differentiated learning, reduced class sizes and additional resources to support SRB learners effectively in a mainstream school. Our SRB caters for students with for identified students with a diagnosis of ASD and students who do not have a formal diagnosis but have barriers to learners associated with the triad of communication, socialisation and flexibility of thinking.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about teaching and learning:
- To lead the delivery of the school’s Specialist Resource Base (SRB) in accordance with all relevant policies, procedures and in line with the School Service Level Agreement with Norfolk County Council.
- To lead the strategic development of practice, performance, and quality within the SRB to ensure continuous improvement of provision using the most current evidence-based practice.
- To manage a staff team of teaching and support staff within the SRB, providing inspirational leadership which enables individuals to operate at their best, supporting their continued professional development in a cycle of continuous improvement.
- To provide leadership and guidance to teams, colleagues and partners ensuring a culture which promotes true partnership with parents, carers, and families.
- To maintain the highest standards of teaching, learning, specialist support and safeguarding for the pupils within the SRB, enabling pupils to make accelerated progress and to meet their special educational needs.
- Be willing to undertake the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead for the SRB and have clear understanding of safeguarding procedures and practices.
- To make suitable plans for a child’s needs by interpreting both how they present as well as specific assessments and knowledge of their specific needs.
- To encourage children to develop in all aspects of their learning, including both socially and emotionally, promoting the school’s nurturing ethos.
- Who appreciates the need to work as a team to face challenges together.
- Who can reflect on and develop their classroom practice.
This teacher will be part of the school’s appraisal scheme. They will have a line manager who will set agreed targets for the year. The line manager will monitor and review performance, including classroom teaching. The school will support the continuing professional development of all staff, to ensure that their expertise is being kept up to date. and will:
- Attend and contribute to team and full staff meetings.
- In relation to the school’s strategic plan, contribute towards the goals and targets.
- Maintain a professional interest in educational initiatives and developments.
- Undertake any other duties that are within the scope of the post, as determined by the Headteacher.
