Specialist Teacher for Autism Resource Centre
1 year Temporary Contract that is attached to a student, which will end if the student leaves school
To commence – September 2019
An exciting opportunity to work in an outstanding ASD provision as an ASD specialist teacher. We are looking for someone with extensive experience of working with challenging children with ASD. Experience of teaching the mainstream secondary curriculum to able students is essential. Particular experience in English, Maths and Science would be favourable.
This role could be an excellent stepping stone to working in other ASD Specialist Units.

Essential educational requirements
Degree or Equivalent in relevant subject
Further qualification in Autism (Desirable)
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Essential skills and experience
Essential Skills & Knowledge:-
Excellent organisational & communication skills
To plan & deliver curriculum which is differentiated to allow for a wide range of abilities & needs to a high standard
To contribute to reports & assessments
Work collaboratively & follow agreed procedures
Develop the curriculum within an agreed area in conjunction with colleagues in mainstream school
Understanding of the SEN Code of Practice & the National Curriculum
Knowledge & experience of teaching strategies for students with Autism which are effective in managing students with behavioural, emotional & sensory difficulties
Ability to assess & track progress of students
Recent teaching experience
Working with TAs & organising workloads
Working with children with Autism
Experience & understanding of students with challenging behaviour
Experience of a multi-agency approach to resolve the difficulties faced by students with problems is desirable.
