John Clifford School is launching a new Alternative Provision Unit for a small cohort of children from our school and local partner schools.
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, committed teacher with experience of working with young people with specific needs in either a specialist or mainstream setting. This will be a new provision that seeks to lead on high quality teaching across the core areas as well as providing a focus on nurture, social and emotional skills and therapeutic supports.

We are looking for a teacher who can demonstrate:
• The ability to lead and work in a team who make a positive contribution to the lives of many children.
• The communication skills that will see clear articulation of the school’s values and vision for inclusive practice.
• The knowledge and ability to plan for a broad curriculum that will support bespoke packages offered to children.
• The leadership skills that will see our APU grow from strength to strength with robust policy and developing practice.
• The motivation and desire to learn and improve both independently and from others.
• The desire to read and be informed by research and best practice.
• A commitment to make a difference to diverse learners from across our schools.
The APU is scheduled to open in January 2023, however the successful applicant will be appointed to John Clifford School from 1st September in order to immerse themselves fully within the school, its ethos and vision and to work alongside staff and children in the development of this exciting project. The appointee will work as part of a team to develop policy and create a curriculum in readiness for the opening of the APU. They will attend local meetings and meet with professionals in support of admission and providing bespoke needs.
This position is ideal for a qualified teacher, looking for a unique opportunity to gain experience in supporting individual needs, working with professional agents and gaining a developing insight into management and leadership.
This opportunity is open to full and part time members of staff and will be paid on a pro rata basis.
