Sports and Leisure Duty Officer job summary
JOB TITLE: Sport & Leisure Duty Officer - Youth & Community focus
GRADE: SCP 5-6 (£12.85 - £13.05 per hour)
RESPONSIBLE TO: Sport and Leisure Manager
CONTRACT : 24 hours per week, with adhoc Saturday shifts
(shifts to be discussed at interview stage)

Purpose of the Role
To supervise and oversee the operations of the Sports Centre and Gym, ensuring the health and safety of staff and customers, and guaranteeing the highest standards of service. To maintain and increase overall member retention levels and centre custom. To support the Manager through undertaking administrative and marketing duties, and financial reports, to assist the Centre Operations. To support team members and freelance Fitness Instructors, to increase income and provision ensuring that all procedures are adhered to.
Duties and Responsibilities
The list is given as a guideline only and is not exhaustive. Other tasks and activities relevant to the main headings should also be considered acceptable. A degree of flexibility is therefore considered essential.
Main duties
Maintain high ‘front of house’ standards and assist with the smooth running of the centre. To act as the responsible officer in the absence of the Manager.
Maintain customer service standard, to ensure that the centre adheres to the Academy’s and Sports Centres policies/procedures, practices and strategies including financial regulations and health & safety requirements.
Manage and oversee Cleaning and Maintenance/ COSSH of the Gym and Centre, in line with Health and Safety Procedures
Responsible for opening and closing the Gym/Centre facility in line with Health and Safety Procedures when required.
To deal effectively and helpfully with customer enquiries, queries and complaints.
To actively seek out new memberships/custom and develop ways of maintaining memberships/custom.
To carry out administration, marketing, data collection and financial reports where required.
To assist the Sport and Leisure Manager:
In monitoring and evaluating all aspects of the operation of the Gym, including; Information Technology, Administration, Business Development and Financial Management.
In the provision of an effective service including the selling of memberships, RCPs, and Centre bookings.
To market, promote and evaluate all aspects of the Centre to ensure value for money and financial viability across the whole service.
In planning, development and organisation of the Gym facility, Gym memberships, Fitness Programmes, Health Initiatives and Fitness Classes.
In planning, development and organisation of Children’s Parties and Holiday Programmes/Course when required.
In the development, organisation and monitoring of all Gym Memberships and Sports Centre Customers to ensure a high quality service.
In the day to day Financial matters relating to the Sport Centre and Lettings; till management and cashing up procedures where required.
