What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Sports Coach to join our successful school
Your main role will be to deliver quality sport and physical activities for all pupils from EYFS to Year 6, both in school curriculum time and also through the delivery of a range of extra-curricular activities at lunchtimes and after school. Your working pattern will therefore reflect this timetable. Most of the PE teaching will take place in the afternoons so we are looking for someone who can be a High Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) in the mornings (although this part of the job is not essential).
As part of the HLTA role you will either already have undertaken the HLTA training or be experienced enough to begin the training. Your role will include delivering lessons that are planned by and with the class teacher, supporting teachers and working with groups of children. We are a friendly, happy and caring school and are looking for a candidate who will contribute to our very effective learning environment.
Candidates will:
¨ Ensure the delivery of an inclusive PE and sport curriculum from EYFS to Year 6
¨ Work and liaise with the PE lead to develop and deliver an outstanding programme of PE and sport
¨ Assist in co-ordinating sports events and sports days
¨ Plan and deliver extracurricular after schools sports clubs
¨ Support pupils in competitive fixtures
¨ Be able to plan a range of innovative and engaging coaching sessions and programmes in a variety of sports
¨ Develop and inspire young people to live active and healthy lifestyles
¨ Assess pupils performance and progress
¨ Have knowledge of the PE National Curriculum and follow the schools scheme of work
¨ Have knowledge of health and safety requirements for conducting PE lessons
¨ Have GCSE grade C and above in English and Maths
¨ Have a patient and positive attitude along with a good sense of humour
¨ Have a commitment to raising standards
What the school offers its staff
We are very successful when participating in sporting events and would like the successful candidate to play an integral part of developing this further.
Appropriate training in PE will be given for the right candidate if required. We also have a fantastic swimming pool which can provide further opportunities. We will also provide support in gaining HLTA status if needed.
If you are interested in finding out more about the role, then please contact the school for an informal chat.
