What skills and experience we're looking for
This is
a fantastic opportunity for a trained special needs primary teacher, or someone
with a passion for teaching in SEND to join us in September 2023 or sooner if possible. You will be
joining an innovative, trail-blazing primary school and playing a role in its
success and development of the SRB. Our teaching staff at Drake Primary school
provide great educational opportunities for all of our pupils, and our
appointed candidate will contribute towards this and support our journey. We
are looking for practitioners who are creative and imaginative teachers with
the ability to plan highly effective learning opportunities that meet the needs
of all the children in our care.
We are looking for a teacher who:
- Has a passion for working with children who have SEND
- Committed to contributing to the development of taking a new SRB into the future and creating a centre of excellence
- Has knowledge of children with a profile of autism
- Will play a full part in the life of Drake Primary School’s community and support the ethos, aims and mission statement of the school and encourage others to follow this example
- Will implement and deliver a broad, balanced and inclusive curriculum for pupils and support a designated curriculum area
- Demonstrates a clear understanding of what constitutes outstanding teaching and learning
- Shows commitment to ensuring equality of opportunity for all learners
- Is reflective, open to feedback and driven to be outstanding
- Is a dedicated team-player
- Demonstrates optimism about children and expects the highest possible standards
The main responsibilities are;
- Planning, teaching and assessment for the children in the provision using a range of tools
- Leading and managing the support staff in your class team
- Working collaboratively with parents
- Work collaboratively with teachers across the school
- Working in partnership with SRB Specialist Partners

Further details about the role
Drake Primary School has a unique opportunity for an excellent teacher to work alongside our SRB team in the Autism Specialist Resource Base. Our SRB has an exciting expansion plan, resulting in an increase in provision from the current 10 places to 16 places becoming available for young people with a profile of autism.
Following a Norfolk County Council consultation, we have a Primary Special Resource Base (SRB) for children with a profile of autism as part of a county wide network of SRBs providing opportunities for partnership working, professional development and training.
