Responsible for: Ensuring the highest standards of safeguarding practice across all MAC schools.

The Directors of St Teresa of Calcutta Multi Academy Company (the MAC) are seeking to appoint an exceptional and experienced safeguarding professional to take a strategic lead in ensuring the highest standards of safeguarding practice across all our schools.
This is a key central team role, working across the MAC to ensure that safeguarding is effective, consistent, and fully embedded in the culture of every school. The role will involve supporting children and young people aged 3-18.
The successful candidate will working closely with Headteachers, Designated Safeguarding Leads, the MAC Central Team, external agencies and partner services to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all pupils.
This is a strategic role, but it will require flexibility. The successful candidate will be visible across schools, providing challenge, support, coaching and quality assurance. They will also contribute to safeguarding reviews, audits, training and the development of systems and processes across the MAC.
We are seeking a highly experienced safeguarding leader with a strong track record of effective practice in education, social care or a related field. They may have worked as a safeguarding lead, within a local authority safeguarding team, or in a senior leadership role within a school or multi-academy trust. The successful candidate is not required to hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), however they must have significant and relevant experience of safeguarding within a school setting
The successful candidate will have:
An excellent and up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding legislation, statutory guidance and Keeping Children Safe in Education
Significant experience of leading safeguarding practice and improving systems and processes
The ability to influence, support and challenge senior leaders effectively
High levels of emotional intelligence, integrity and professional judgement
A collaborative, solution-focused approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work independently
Above all, they will be committed to the Catholic ethos of the MAC and to ensuring that every child is safe, valued, and supported to thrive.

The MAC was formed on 1st May 2019, with two secondary schools and one primary (Archbishop Ilsley, Holy Trinity and Holy Souls). Three further
primary schools joined in September 2021 (St Chad’s, St Joseph’s and The Rosary).
The Trust is undergoing an exciting period of growth, with a further six primary schools set to join us over the coming months. Our schools are all situated within four miles of the cultural and commercial centre of
Birmingham. Active engagement with families and parish and local communities is key to their individual strengths.
