What skills and experience we're looking for

The Castle School Education Trust are recruiting for a Student Centre Lead to join Mangotsfield School. Following its first Ofsted grading of “Good” two years ago, this is an exciting time for the school as the results continue to improve year on year and the school consolidates its reputation for support, gaining increasing popularity in the local area.

About the role

We are looking for an exemplary leader to lead behaviour across the school. This role will be part of a strategic approach of early identification, preventative work, responsive sanctions and interventions. You will lead a large team of student support workers who have different responsibilities but all of whom support the smooth running of the school and its students. The role demands excellent personal and interpersonal skills, a thorough understanding of teenagers, strong organisational and prioritisation skills and the ability to evaluate and act accordingly. A sense of humour is a must!

You will be fully supported by the senior leadership team and the heads of house. There will be opportunities to share knowledge with other behaviour leads across the trust. You will also liaise regularly with behaviour leads beyond the trust.

What the school offers its staff

About Us

Mangotsfield School has been recognised by Ofsted as a “rapidly improving, community focused, ambitious school.” In March 2022 we were awarded Good in all categories, a testament to the vision and dedication of the leadership and teaching body.

Mangotsfield School has a strong ethos built on our four values. In all aspects of school life we encourage students to love learning, embrace challenge, give and earn respect and grow our community. Our classrooms, our corridors and our systems are built on these values. This supports our culture where we can meet individual needs and close the gaps for our students.

Mangotsfield School is a local secondary school firmly rooted in, and proudly working within the community which it serves. The school is situated in pleasant semi-rural surroundings on the north-eastern outskirts of Bristol. Mangotsfield School became an academy as part of the Castle School Education Trust in September 2015 and works in partnership with Downend School to deliver 16-19 opportunities for all students. We are committed to the professional development of all staff.

We can offer you:

  • Commitment to CPD and development of all staff
  • Commitment to inclusivity and fostering of diversity
  • Values and vision that are lived not laminated
  • Open and honest culture
  • Local Government pension with up to 19% Employer contributions
  • Up to 30% discount with Microsoft & Dell
  • Discounted gym membership
  • Life Assurance - 3 x Death in Service
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Dedicated counselling service

Commitment to safeguarding

Mangotsfield School and Castle School Education Trust (CSET) are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Successful candidates are subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Everything at Mangotsfield School is based around its school
values driven by Headteacher, Hetty Blackmore. Having first
joined the school as a newly qualified teacher when she was
23 years old and returned to lead it later in her career, she is
very proud of the journey the school is on.

Mangotsfield School is proud to serve its community and has
been part of the local community since 1957. They have just
celebrated being rated as a ‘Good’ school by Ofsted (visit
March 2022).

There are wonderful resources and facilities on site, allowing
students to embrace curricular and extra-curricular
challenges from DT, art, dance, drama and a climbing wall to
name a few. There is a lot of open space, which is green and
calm. And this sense of calm is echoed in the school itself.
The school has a proud sporting history and teams have
travelled as far as Wembley to take part in national
competitions. The school is also on a mission to broaden
horizons with many co-curricular trips taking place, such as a
Year 7 trip to Slimbridge Wetlands for art research and a
Year 8 trip to Tyntesfield House to explore gothic horror
within the English curriculum.
