“Being the best version of Sprowston that we can be”
The Trustees and Governors of Sprowston Community Academy are seeking to employ an enthusiastic and dedicated professional to work within our Student Services Department.
The Purpose of the Role
At Sprowston Community Academy we want every student to feel part of “Team Sprowston”. We want them to belong, thrive and achieve. An important part of this agenda is ensuring that we offer the highest quality support to students with medical needs and for students who may require support during the school day.
This role is a student and family facing role. A key element will involve the postholder in liaising closely between families, medical professionals, students and the wider staff to ensure that there are clear medical support plans in place to meet the individual needs of students. This will require high levels of efficiency, organisation and the ability to work with a range of stakeholders in a positive, open and transparent manner, showing care, understanding and administrative efficiency.
The post holder will be the first point of contact for students with first aid, illness and medical needs that present during the school day. The postholder will be expected to have the appropriate training and experience to offer high levels of practical support to students but will also have the nuanced skills to identify when students should be encouraged and supported to return to lessons. A key part of the school ethos is about seeking to understand the barriers and worries that young people have and working systematically with them to break these barriers down. To this end, recording, sharing and monitoring key information in a confidential, sensitive, and constructive manner will form a significant part of the role.
At Sprowston we believe strongly in the power of teams with staff working flexibly and collaboratively to support each other. This role sits partly within the administrative team and will support a wider team of reception staff. It will also sit partly within the attendance team as we seek to ensure that support to students is comprehensive and coherent and that there is strong and purposeful engagement with families.
The Working Pattern of the role
Daily 8.30 am to 4.00 pm.
