Student Support Mentor job summary

As part of our planned expansion, we are looking to recruit a full-time Student and Family Support Assistant to support high quality intervention, care and support to our students that enables them to access their teaching and learning.

We currently have a strong team of specialist Student and Family Support Assistants from a diverse range of backgrounds who have developed specialist knowledge and skills area, based on their previous experience, training, skills, and areas of interest. We would be particularly interested in hearing from applicants with skills in developing therapeutic support such as speech, language, or occupational therapy. Special Educational Needs, Mental Health and/or Autistic Spectrum Condition experience could be an advantage, but our overriding priority is to find the right people to join our team and full training will be given.

You will work with a team of Teaching and Student Support staff to equip students with life skills that will enable them to thrive as independent, skilled adults who can navigate the multiple demands of the wider world. We are looking for proactive, resilient practitioners with the ability and flexibility to act as a key person for individual and small group of students, overseeing specialist and Student and Family Support alongside assisting with the wider Student Support care of our young people as part of their daily school experience.

We are developing an excellent reputation for providing student-centred learning and support with the highest level of challenge to ensure our students attain the highest standards of personal, social, emotional, and academic development. We have 70 students currently on roll and a further cohort of 20 students joining in September 2022, all of whom are in receipt of an Education, Health and Care Plan.
