This is an exciting opportunity to join the Safeguarding and Student Support Team within an outstanding Secondary School.

The Safeguarding and Student Support Team is made up of an Assistant Principal (DSL) two Student Support Officers, and a Safeguarding Administrator.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, positive and confident individual to work within this close knit team as a Student Support Officer for KS4. As a team we support some of our most vulnerable students. The role of a Student Support Officer includes the following – To:

  • Liaise with both Tomlinscote staff, outside agencies and parents to offer the best

  • Support for our young people;

  • Deputise for the DSL (Designated Safeguarding Lead) when required;

  • Speak with our KS4 students (KS3 if necessary) when they present in the

  • Wellbeing Hub or when a safeguarding issue arises;

  • Keep safeguarding records up to date;

  • Work with the team to track any safeguarding concerns online;

  • Take the lead when transferring documents to post 16 institutions

  • Attend safeguarding meetings, including those for students who are on a Child

  • Protection Plan;.

  • Work with the DSL and take responsibility for any LAC in KS4;

  • Provide support within the Wellbeing Hub.

An understanding of safeguarding and mental health within a school setting is required. Training will be given in safeguarding if this is not already in place or within Surrey. Experience of working with young people is desirable.

A positive mindset works well in this busy department where no two days are the same.
