About The Role:

Truro and Penwith Academy Trust, together with the Local Monitoring Committee of Trewirgie Infants’ School are seeking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate professional to join our team as a Student Welfare Officer and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about children’s wellbeing, safeguarding, and inclusion, and who thrives in a role that makes a real difference every single day.

As our Student Welfare Officer and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead you will:

  • Work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to ensure the highest standards of safeguarding practice.
  • Provide pastoral care and emotional support for children and families, helping to remove barriers to learning.
  • Support with attendance, behaviour, and wellbeing initiatives across the school.
  • Build positive relationships with parents, carers, and outside agencies to ensure effective support.
  • Supervise classes in the absence of the class teacher, maintaining a calm and positive learning environment.

This role can be done alongside our currently advertisedCover Supervisorrole.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a genuine passion for working with young children and supporting their holistic development.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Has experience in a pastoral or safeguarding role (school-based experience desirable).
  • Understands the importance of confidentiality, professionalism, and teamwork.
  • Is reflective and committed to ongoing professional growth.
