What skills and experience we're looking for
We are seeking an enthusiastic, committed, and experienced individual to lead our English department. This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic teacher who is passionate about driving progress and improving outcomes for our students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and vision for the English department
- Develop and implement a challenging and engaging English curriculum
- Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning in English
- Support and mentor colleagues to improve their practice
- Analyse data and use it to inform planning and interventions
- Promote the love of English and literature across the school
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Substantial experience teaching English at secondary level
- Proven track record of leading and managing a successful English department
- Excellent subject knowledge and pedagogical expertise
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Desirable Qualities:
- Ability to inspire and motivate both staff and students
- Commitment to continuous professional development
- Innovative approach to teaching and learning
- Willingness to contribute to the wider life of the school
