What skills and experience we're looking for

The Role

We have created new positions in our technology subject area leadership and are looking to appoint an outstanding and inspirational Subject Leader for Design and Technology. The position will suit an experienced design and technology teacher with some experience of Subject Leadership. Do you believe that there are no limits to student achievement? If so, why not consider joining our school and make a real difference to our young people.

The technology department has been recently refurbished with a new purpose built multi use room, four existing workshops and a computer room shared across the department.

This position covers the planning, delivery and coordination of the curriculum in the areas of Product Design, Graphics and Engineering and developing the key stage 3 content to ensure it is equipping students with the skills and knowledge to progress into the courses offered in key stage four and (potentially) five. This position will also include line management of the department Technician.

Working as a team with the Lead Practitioner for Vocational Subjects and the Subject Coordinator for Food, we are looking for someone who can play a key part in achieving outstanding outcomes and progressing the subject to delivery at key stage 5 as part of our Sigma Sixth provision.

For further information or to arrange a visit, please email spencer.vickers@pmsc.school.

  • This post is 100% FTE.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • The effective leadership, development and management of an appropriately broad, balanced and inclusive curriculum which is ambitious for all students and is in line with the school's Curriculum principles.
  • The effective leadership, development, delivery and monitoring of High Quality Teaching strategies and approaches, including the Development of Reading, as appropriate to the subject, in line with the school's HQT and Extra Help principles.
  • The effective leadership, management and monitoring of assessment for learning approaches and reporting procedures within the department, in line with the school's Assessment for Learning principles.
  • The leadership of relevant approaches and provision of opportunities within the department that contribute to the personal development and wellbeing of students.

(The full details can be found in the attached Job Outline and Person Specification).

We're looking for you if you have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Ability to teach "outstanding" lessons in Design and Technology
  • Ability to develop and implement a high quality broad and balanced curriculum
  • A proven track record in monitoring and improving student attainment
  • A passion for teaching, developing and training staff within the curriculum area and making a real difference to young people
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

If you are a dynamic teacher with experience and passionate about the subject of Design and Technology, who would like to work in a supportive and collaborative environment and you feel that you have the enthusiasm and commitment required to join our school, please apply.

If you would like any further information, please email spencer.vickers@pmsc.school.
