Subject leader for Art and Design job summary

Are you bogged down by constant marking and achieving endless targets? Do you find the curriculum restrictive and lacking in creativity? Do you wish you had more time to develop strong working relationships with students? If so, why not try a different challenge?
You will be joining a supportive, committed and social team, working in a dynamic and caring atmosphere to make a difference for the children who need you most.
Phoenix College is a Community Day School in Reading catering for up to 64 pupils aged 11-18 and designated as having emotional, social and/or mental health issues.
At Phoenix College we specialise in:
• supporting pupils with Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties through a range of educational and therapeutic programmes.
• working positively to support children with complex needs that can be a barrier to their learning.
• Our pupils all have Education Health Care Plans and have struggled to succeed in a mainstream environment.

We are keen to find:
• An inspiring and passionate teacher with a proven track record
• A resilient and outgoing individual with a good sense of humour and who relishes a challenging opportunity.
• Someone who has a natural ability to build rapport with the students

Experience working with SEMH would be advantageous but not essential – it is more important that you have a desire and are ready to undertake a fresh challenge outside of mainstream education.

Application forms and further details are available from the school.
Please email head@phoenixcollege.reading.sch.uk or visit our website www.phoenixcollegevoice.org.uk

Visits are highly recommended and warmly welcomed. Please contact the school to make an appointment.

Start date as soon as possible, preferably Easter.
