What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking to appoint an experienced teacher of modern foreign languages to lead our department from September 2024. We need an enthusiastic practitioner with recent experience of teaching this subject in mainstream or special schools, who can plan and adapt the curriculum for this subject to meet the needs of our students. We currently teach three languages at the school with every student currently studying one language to GCSE. The department also offers various cultural activities and contributes to the International Schools programme.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be well qualified and an experienced teacher.
  • Have high expectations.
  • Have extensive knowledge of the subject and be suitably qualified to teach French to A Level with the ability to teach a second language (ideally Spanish).
  • Have the ability to inspire and motivate students and colleagues.
  • Have a track record of forming very good working relationships with pupils, parents and staff.

The Modern Foreign Languages will comprise of a subject leader and one full time teacher. We work to a 25-period week with 1-hour lessons. Pupils currently learn either French, German or Spanish up to GCSE. We currently have small A level groups in French, German and Spanish using AQA for both GCSE and A Level.
