The Governors wish to appoint a well-qualified, innovative and enthusiastic full time Subject Leader of Art and Photography for this popular and successful subject area. The successful applicant will have a highly successful track record of raising achievement in Art and/or Photography in order to drive further improvement within the department.

This an excellent opportunity for an experienced Subject Leader or an ambitious teacher with leadership qualities who wishes to develop Art and Photography in a fully inclusive secondary school setting.

The successful applicant will:

Priory has a strong commitment to the Arts, which has built and developed over many years and has a very strong presence within the school and local community. Staff in all the Arts subjects – Art, Dance, Drama and Music - work together with enthusiasm and commitment and provide an extra-curricular programme which is extensive, varied and well supported. The area is also well supported by the Senior Leadership Team. Facilities are good and include specialist rooms and studios for Drama, Dance, Music, Art and Photography.

The salary scale is Teachers Main/Upper Pay Scale, £30,000 to £46,525 + TLR 2b (£5,348). An ability to teach KS3 and KS4 is essential. The role is being offered on a full-time basis, but the school also welcomes applications for flexible working.

In addition, Priory School are also seeking to appoint an Arts, Culture and Creativity Coordinator to work with the Visual and Performing Arts teams to take overall responsibility for delivering the school’s commitment to becoming the leading creative state secondary school in the region.

This is a whole school role to develop and implement a vision and plan to coordinate and embed arts, culture and creativity across the curriculum, working with a number of different key stakeholders in order to do so, including subject leaders, teachers, support staff and external agencies and providers, as well as the local community. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to apply for this role once appointed.
