We are looking for an inspiring individual to join our team, lead and develop the English department and contribute to the life chances of the young people in our school community. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of excellent teaching and learning, with experience of curriculum design and coaching and mentoring colleagues leading to success in improving standards and raising student outcomes. You will be joining a dedicated team of subject specialists who are committed to ensuring that students develop a passion and love for English and make really good progress. The subject is popular at A level, achieving amongst the best results across the school.
As Subject Leader you will be part of a wider team of valued and trusted middle leaders working towards the shared vision of the school. We believe in the principle of “aligned autonomy” which gives you freedom to develop and innovate within your subject whilst working collaboratively, valuably contributing to the success of the whole school and our students.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their own leadership qualities, whether that be through a relevant Masters programme, NPQSL or off-site training of their own choosing. As a more experienced colleague, you will be encouraged to share good practice across Oxfordshire as we are part of the River Learning Trust. Through this partnership, we have strong networks with other schools which provide lots of exciting opportunities for our staff.
A £9000 recruitment incentive (R&R) payment for successful candidates applying directly to RLT for this role, is payable after a qualifying period of two full terms in this role. This includes a 3-year retention period. Please see our attached information sheet for more details.
