Job description

We wish to appoint an enthusiastic Head of Science with the ability to lead, motivate and inspire; who has vision for the subject area and a willingness to be part of our school's journey; with a desire to help our students to achieve the best outcomes possible.

We are looking for some who:
• Evidence of achieving high standards of teaching in the classroom;
• Has the ability to raise standards of learning and achievement of pupils in the subject area;
• Has the ability to lead a team and provide support and guidance to others;
• Has humour, compassion, determination and drive

Essential skills and experience

• Evidence of achieving high standards of teaching in the classroom
• Excellent examination results at Key Stages 3 and 4
• Excellent classroom management skills
• A record of maintaining high standards of behaviour
• Excellent subject knowledge and a full understanding of the curriculum and examination requirements for Science
• Good interpersonal skills
• Sound knowledge and understanding of current developments in Science
• An ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence through the medium of English

St Augustine of Canterbury Catholic High School is a mixed, comprehensive, Roman Catholic secondary school without sixth form situated in Blackbrook, St Helens, Merseyside.
