We are looking for a committed, experienced qualified teacher with a real passion for their subject and vibrant enthusiasm to work with our brilliant students as Subject Lead for Physics.

Indeed, Harris St John's Wood has won the bid to become the new Hub for Science & Technology in North & West London and we are directly now contributing to the STEM Learning agenda. We will be the centre of a network of school-led delivery of subject specific Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for teachers and technicians. This will have a measurable and positive impact on the quality of science teaching and the learning outcomes for young people. We need your help to come and lead science as a subject leader.

The purpose of your role will be:

To establish outstanding provision within Physics
To be accountable for student progress and development in Physics across KS3, KS4 and Sixth Form
To ensure high standards of teaching and learning in Physics through continuously, developing and enhancing the quality of teaching and learning.
To ensure the provision of an appropriately engaging, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students in Physics
To ensure that all school policies and procedures are implemented and applied consistently by all colleagues in Physics
To effectively and efficiently manage and deploy teaching/support staff, financial and physical resources across Physics, with the support and working alongside the MLG/ALG
To lead development for literacy within Physics, to raise standards of literacy across the Academy.

What we are looking for

We look for talented individuals who want to be a part of transforming education in London, and helping create exceptional places of learning. The successful candidate will:

Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree
Have at least three years' teaching experience at secondary level
Understand the theory and practice of effective teaching and learning
Show knowledge of National Curriculum requirements at KS3, KS4, and KS5
Have experience of delivering high quality INSET to teaching staff within their subject area
Show evidence of success in raising achievement as a subject leader or classroom practitioner
Have experience of processes of monitoring, evaluation and review that provide performance data that can be used to improve the quality of teaching and learning
Have a good level of ICT skills and experience of how new technologies can be used to raise achievement, including the use of interactive white boards
Have recent experience of involvement in innovative curriculum development
Have ideas of how Language, Literacy and Numeracy can be used across the curriculum to raise standards
Have experience of embedding innovative strategies for improving teaching and learning, of managing and implementing change successfully and of using coaching as a model for ensuring on going professional development
