The Role
Queen Katharine Academy are looking to appoint a Subject Leader for Spanish and Home Languages who wants to make a difference to join our enthusiastic, hard-working and committed team. You must have the ability to teach Spanish up to KS5.
The Languages Department is a successful department in the Academy, and our classrooms are often full of students involved in some kind of extra activity related to language learning.
The Department has recently been commended for the Bernice McCabe Award.
We are a creative team, trained and thoughtful of the new GCSE and A-level specifications, continuously developing new exciting resources to adapt our lessons to the updated outcomes, and create an enjoyable and respectful environment to promote success.
The shining stars of our department are our extra clubs and competitions. From the Language Eurovision Contest at the beginning of Year 7, to the Foreign Language Translation Bee in Years 8 and 9. Our projects offer a wide range of extra activities to motivate students learning, and we have so much fun with them!
The Department is well resourced and with fantastic practitioners and we are looking to appoint a colleague who shares the love for languages and their enthusiasm and unwavering determination to help every student enjoy, achieve and progress in Spanish from KS3 through to KS5.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a school within one of the well-regarded Trusts in the eastern region. The school has a great history of success and a bright and exciting future and we are looking for an ambitious and dynamic teacher to steer it through the next stage of its development. Collaboration, educational research and professional development are at the core of how the schools within Thomas Deacon Education Trust work together. With a clear focus on teaching at all levels, the Trust is well placed to provide great opportunities to promote Queen Katharine Academy as a leading school and you will be given effective support to develop you personally as an outstanding teacher.
The successful candidate will have proven expertise and be someone with a passion for their subject who will inspire and engage our students and be able to lead and manage a team effectively and know how to get the best from each teacher in the department. You will actively assist in the further development of Spanish within the School.
