Support Specialist job summary
Support Specialist
Polden Bower School are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to provide support to a teacher who is partially sighted and who benefits from Access to Work arrangements. In this role, you will work closely with the teacher to ensure their professional needs are met, allowing them to effectively carry out their teaching responsibilities. Salary grade 15. The hours of work would be 25 per week as follows: Monday: 08:00 - 12:00 + 13:30 - 15:30, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday 08:00 - 12:00 + 15:30 - 16:30, Thursday 08:00 - 12:00

As a support specialist at you would be working within a supportive team of committed teachers and support staff. Polden Bower, is a 220-place special school and has the specialist resources needed to meet the needs of our students. State-of-the-art facilities for all the children and young people, this includes a warm water pool for physiotherapy; a sports hall; a sensory room; and fully accessible classrooms with the latest teaching technology. This is a very exciting time to be joining a growing Federation. We are working in partnership with The Bridge School which is the PRU within Bridgwater.
You must:
1. Provide assistance with setting up and using assistive technology tools and software
2. Assist in the adaptation of educational materials, including textbooks, worksheets, and visual aids
3. Offer support during classroom activities and instruction, including organising materials, facilitating student interactions, and providing additional assistance as needed
4. Assist with administrative tasks related to teaching, such as lesson planning, supporting the logging of parental communications on school systems, communication with students, parents, and colleagues to allow the teacher to focus on instructional delivery.
5. Providing guidance and assistance with navigating the school environment, including guiding the teacher between classrooms, helping them locate resources, and using the school systems and equipment as required to support their teaching
