What skills and experience we're looking for

A mainscale teacher with responsibility for a negotiated curriculum area. General Duties The education and welfare of a designated class in accordance with the requirements and conditions of Employment of School Teachers, having due regard to the requirements of the National Curriculum, the school aims and objectives and schemes of work, and any policies of the Governing Body. To share in the corporate responsibility for the well being and discipline of all pupils. Responsibilities To lead by example and co-ordinate the development, planning and monitoring of the assigned curriculum area. Specific Objectives 1. To teach a class of primary pupils in all areas of the National Curriculum as directed by the Headteacher. 2. To work from the Leadership Team’s direction to effectively promote a high standard of achievement in all areas of the curriculum. 3. To participate in the schools reporting and recording systems and to implement new systems under direction when necessary. 4. Contribute to the schools pastoral curriculum as part of a class teacher’s duties within the agreed behavioural management policy. 5. Contribute to the development of a sound school ethos by example and through a team approach. 6. To liaise with the Leadership team on all areas of the National Curriculum, school policies and school and staff development plans. 7. Participate in all school and statutory reporting systems as required. 8. To contribute to the school’s equal opportunities policy by word deed and action. 9. To liaise closely and effectively with colleagues to develop, plan implement and monitor effective delivery of the given National Curriculum area of responsibility throughout the school. This includes being conversant with current developments, drafting or updating a policy, oversight of planning in collaboration with colleagues to ensure appropriate National Curriculum coverage, continuity and progression, developing an assessment system and advising colleagues on approaches and resources. 10. To ensure the resources for the agreed subject/s are audited, developed with colleagues, catalogued clearly and organised. 2 11. Lead and support INSET in discussion with the Leadership Team. 12. To liaise with the leadership team any initiatives and developments within the agreed co-ordinator area. 13. Share in the development and maintenance of sound links with other primary and secondary schools. 14. Assist in developing and maintaining a positive parental involvement policy, supporting school strategies of enhanced curriculum delivery through partnership with school and home. 15. Participate in the Performance Management Scheme as directed by the Headteacher. 16. Under the direction of the Head, to liaise with outside agencies and other professionals within school with regard to teaching and pastoral care of pupils. 17. To maintain honest and professional conduct at all times. 18. To undertake any reasonable duty as specified by the Head teacher not mentioned in the above.
