PE Teacher job summary

It is an exciting time at Becket Keys Church of England School (OfSTED Outstanding in all areas and SIAMS Outstanding in all areas). We are working hard to build upon several years of strong GCSE and A Level successes that have placed us in the top four schools of our kind in East Anglia (according to the Sunday Times Parent Power Guide).

We are now seeking a new male PE teacher to join our highly successful and hard-working team. If you get along well with other people and want to learn to deliver engaging practical lessons to our students, we want to hear from you! Recently qualified teachers are particularly welcome to apply – we have an excellent track record of supporting Early Career Teachers. However, experienced teachers would also be encouraged to apply.

The ability to teach high-quality lessons in rugby, football, and athletics is desirable, with expertise in at least one of these areas to a high standard being essential. The successful candidate must also be able to teach GCSE PE.

PE is one of the strongest departments in the school and consistently delivers exceptionally high standards in lessons, extra-curricular and qualifications. Students thoroughly enjoy PE lessons at this school with good numbers continuing to A level. Students are taught a highly practical curriculum to ensure they develop a variety of skills and appreciation of fitness. We run an ambitious range of extra-curricular clubs and would want someone with the time, energy and passion to run clubs every day of the week including lunchtime and after school.

In recent years, the department has enjoyed extra-curricular team and individual success at district, county, and national level across both boys’ and girls’ sports. Notable achievements include the U16 Boys being crowned National Basketball Champions in 2022. This year, the department continues to excel, with 3 teams reaching the Regional Finals of the National Track and Field Cup and the U13 Girls’ Football Team progressing to the semi-finals of the National Cup with both competitions still ongoing and strong potential for further success.

The appointee will be committed to our high expectations and core values; we welcome applications from teachers irrespective of their faith or belief. However, we ask for applicants to appreciate and respect the beliefs of others and have strong moral principles.

Staff here are provided with a comprehensive induction programme and laptop, childcare vouchers are available, and childcare is available at a neighbouring provision with discounted rates for staff members.
