An introduction from the Head Teacher.....
Thank you for taking the time to find out about our school. I hope that the following information will be useful in deciding whether to apply for the teaching position at Sutton-cum-Lound Church of England (VA) Primary School. I would urge you to come and visit us to see the school for yourself. More information can be found at www.suttonlound.notts.sch.uk.
We currently have 102 pupils on roll. We have four classes organised as follows;
Maple Class – Foundation 2 and Year 1
Willow Class - Year 1 and 2
Birch Class – Year 3 and 4
Oak Class – Year 5 and 6.
Separately managed provision, Portland Place Pre-school, provides early years education for pupils from two years of age, until they move into full time education.
In March 2022 we secured a Good Ofsted judgement and in March 2016 we were judged to be an Outstanding Church School as part of our Statutory Church School Inspection. We are incredibly proud of our successes, with the support of our dedicated staff team, governors, parents and most importantly the pupils. The successful candidate will be integral in our continuing improvement journey.
As a small school, partnership working has been fundamental to our success, and we have ambitious plans to extend and enhance these opportunities as we continue to evolve. A key development has been developing our learning spaces to immerse the children in their topic – creating exciting and stimulating environments to engage with a curriculum linked to the children’s interests and locality.
At Sutton, we believe Continuing Professional Development is essential and we are committed to providing a range of training opportunities to support your needs and/or induction, to further enhance the learning opportunities for your pupils.
We have ambitious plans to build on the existing strengths of the school, to improve the provision and outcomes for the children. We regularly invest in our ICT provision and children regularly use technology to support their learning. We have significantly invested in the building – enhancing all classrooms, purchasing new classroom furniture, creating a new main entrance, improving the library, creating a new Woodland Room for small group working and creating new outdoor learning spaces. The reception class have a purpose-built foundation unit which provides a flexible learning space to fully meet the needs of children in the Early Years and key Stage 1.

Our curriculum enables the children to learn knowledge and skills through first-hand experiences with an emphasis on the application of skills across the curriculum and the acquisition and development of knowledge.
We are a forward-thinking school and we are part of a number of networks which enable us to learn from other settings to get the very best for our school, to further raise standards. Our staff have visited other schools and we share our best practice with others.
We are a school at the heart of its community and are very proud of the links we have with the village, church and the local area. We are lucky to have committed parents, governors and staff who want the very best for our children.
We really are very proud of our school and excited about our future!
If you would like to be part of a thriving village school, then please get in touch to pay us a visit. If you have any questions about the post, please contact us at recruitment@suttonlound.notts.sch.uk and we will be happy to talk more about our wonderful school and the post we are currently advertising.
We look forward to receiving your application.
