Teacher job summary
Applications welcome from Unqualified Teachers, NQTs and Qualified Teachers.
Hillside is a very successful school that places the pupils at the heart of everything and is aspirational for pupils’ outcomes. We retained our “Outstanding” rating, for a fourth consecutive occasion, in a short inspection by Ofsted in March 2018.
The staff are friendly and supportive and as a school, we are passionate about equality and recognise that as individuals we all bring something unique to the role regardless of age, gender, race, beliefs or disabilities, which is why we treat all of our people equally, without compromise.
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated class teacher.
You may have skills already, or be keen to develop skills in teaching pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and Autism (ASD). The age range is 2 ½ to 19 years and you may be required to work with pupils of any age and ability. You will be expected to be very flexible and must have a truly positive approach.
Applications from teachers with an ability to lead music, computing or design technology would be welcome, but this is not essential.
A knowledge of the needs of SLD, PMLD and/or ASD pupils would also be an advantage.
You will have a proven track record of excellent communication skills, working co-operatively and developing positive relationships with pupils, staff at all levels and families. You will be driven and have high levels of professionalism and a commitment to continuous school improvement.
Emotional and physical resilience, adaptability, the ability to stay calm in challenging situations, patience and a good sense of humour are also very important.
