The Bridge School, Sedgemoor is one of four Pupil Referral Units commissioned by Somerset County Council and Somerset schools. All students are referred through their mainstream schools in the Sedgemoor area where they are at risk or have been permanently excluded from mainstream schools. Due to need and expansion we are looking for an enthusiastic teacher to lead on our partnership intervention between us and our secondary schools. The work is around assessing the needs, often complex and combined with unidentified learning needs, providing the intervention and strategies to help the student manage their needs in a school setting and reporting and informing the school on those strategies so they are successful. This role will involve also advising staff that work with the students as well as working with student directly.
This role will be more around social, emotional and behavioural needs of students than academic although there is overlap, but the applicant wouldn't need to be a subject specialist. Its more about being able to work with and support secondary aged children. Primary or secondary teachers are welcome to apply. The post is scale M1 to 6.
The post is based in Cossington but would involve travelling to others schools and reportable to the assistant headteacher (partnership)
In return the school will offer the successful candidate a full induction programme, ongoing range of professional development opportunities. and the opportunity to work as part of a very skilled, supportive and experienced team. There will be opportunities for career progression as part of the wider partnership of schools, as The Bridge works within a formal partnership with both Polden Bower and Avalon Schools.
