What the school offers its staff
Ashcombe is a larger than average primary school of 630 pupils. We have just had a £6 million extension added to our existing building and we’re very excited about being able to make use of our new space.
We have worked hard to develop our knowledge rich curriculum and alongside that we have recently been working with the Hargreaves Foundation to develop a nationally renowned literacy programme. This year we have started exciting work developing a whole school mental health programme and we are about to introduce OPAL Play to our children.
At Ashcombe, our mantra is ‘We are Ashcombe’. That means we work together and no one individual is more important than the whole. Our culture is one of respect where staff are valued and treated with kindness. We are an inclusive school which is ambitious for our children and our community. Working in any school is never easy, but it is always worth it. We are looking for members of the team who are willing to work hard and are motivated by their desire to make a difference to the children and community they serve. We like to have fun and a sense of humour is essential. In a large school, we need team players who enjoy working with others. Many of our staff have worked here for many years and although we’re a large school, we have a family feel and look out for each other.
We’re also proud to be part of our close-knit Trust, Kaleidoscope which is made up of 7 primary schools based in North Somerset. Our partnership offers staff great professional development and inter-school opportunities across all seven schools that reflect and represent their distinct local communities.
We offer you:
- A unique opportunity to be part of a ground-breaking Literacy project that will change childrens’ lives
- Sensible and successful systems, based on research, with a commitment to reduce workload where ever possible
- PPA alongside your year group colleagues
- A positive, warm and welcoming working environment
- Experienced, intelligent, lively colleagues
- Family-friendly working practices
- A fantastic location with great transport links
- A strong emphasis on professional learning and teacher development
- A commitment to evidence based practice
- Support and professional development opportunities alongside staff from our Trust family of schools
The successful applicant will be based in year 2.
