Company Description
The Burton Academy provides a safe, nurturing environment for 55 secondary-age students who have been unable to sustain a place in mainstream education. By prioritising academic achievement and introducing behaviour interventions and therapeutic support where necessary, we enable them to re-integrate at the same key stage as their peers, and go on to access opportunities in employment and further education.
The Catch22 Multi Academies Trust is the vehicle for our sponsorship of an expanding number of academies focusing on learners who can benefit from small, supportive alternative education provision.
Job Description
You will be a passionate teacher looking to engage students; not just helping them pass an exam, but to be able to develop social and emotional skills confidently.
Our students often require support to build trusting relationships with professionals and you will have high expectations and a belief that they can succeed.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will be:
Ensuring that the teaching area is organised appropriately to provide a safe, tidy, pleasant and stimulating environment.
Planning and delivering an appropriate curriculum based on individual needs having due regard to pupil entitlement.
Teaching a range of subjects at different levels across the key stages.
Developing and maintaining positive relationships with families/carers.
Qualifications
Qualified Teacher
Experience
Experience working with pupils with complex needs
Motivating disaffected pupils
Specialist SEN training
Writing and implementing effective behaviour targets for pupils
Additional Information
Salary: MPR / UPR Teachers pay and conditions
Contract: Full time (32.5 hours) – Fixed-term contract (maternity cover)
Interviews for this post will take place week commencing 28th October, 2019
Anticipated contract start date: immediately
