We are looking to appoint an inspirational, enthusiastic and well-qualified Teacher of A Level Media and/or Film Studies at this Outstanding sixth form college.
The post is open to new entrants to the profession as well as experienced teachers. A trainee would also be considered, ideally commencing June 2025, with a requirement to undertake a locally based 2-year part time PGCE course from September 2025 alongside ‘on the job’ training with remission time being given. (See separate details.)
Applicants should be hardworking, enthusiastic and have a high level of commitment. They should have an interest in new pedagogical developments and a specific ability and focus in fostering the learning and success of 16-19-year-old students. Experienced candidates should be able to evidence excellent levels of value-added achievement and, for Post 16 work, retention levels. A high level of integrity is required.
Specific duties involve those expected of a professional teacher as detailed on the attached teaching job description. A pastoral role, most likely that of a personal tutor may also be required.

Nature of the Department and Courses Offered
Departmental provision planned for the 2025/26 academic year includes:
Media Studies A Level Eduqas Currently approximately 240 students
Film Studies GCSE Eduqas Currently approximately 30 students
Film Studies A Level Eduqas Currently approximately 180 students
For the 2025/26 academic year the department is likely to have a team of seven teachers – three full time and four part time, together with a specialist technician.
The department achieves consistently good examination results, including in value-added terms, and sustains high levels of student retention. Progression to related subjects at university is high and we also encourage students to find apprenticeships.
The department have offered students a series of wider curricular related experiences, including studio visits and university taster days, with very positive student feedback received. There is strong support for those wishing to develop new approaches.
