William Hulme’s Grammar School (WHGS) is a well-established 3-18 Academy and is one of the most over-subscribed schools in Greater Manchester with a long and distinguished history. It has a very inclusive and diverse community with over 40 languages spoken and our school is truly representative of Manchester’s rich multi-cultural heritage. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and particularly those committed to diversity and inclusion.
We are committed to ensuring that all children receive a first-class education that prepares them thoroughly for the future and allows them to play an active role in the life of the school and wider community. The school encourages staff to organise events and trips (home and abroad), extra-curricular and subject enrichment activities, to develop the whole child, to prepare him/her for the challenges of the modern world.
We have an opportunity for an outstanding Art Teacher to join the Arts and Technology Faculty. This role would also require an enthusiastic practitioner to teach KS3 Food & Nutrition one day a week. Experience of teaching Food and Nutrition is not necessarily required, but a willingness to be supported by the Food and Nutrition team to deliver theory and practical lessons one day a week is needed.
In 2018, the opening of a new Sixth Form Centre marked the completion of a huge expansion project. Inspectors judged the school to be Good in all phases in its most recent inspection in May 2019. Applications from ECTs are welcome.
Reporting to the Subject Lead of Art and Photography, you will be responsible for teaching Art at Key Stages 3 and 4 and some KS3 Food and Nutrition lessons. You will be an outstanding teacher, delivering consistently good and outstanding lessons, an excellent team player with the highest standards pf professionalism and expectations of students. You will have up to date subject knowledge and a track record of success in maximising student progress across all key stages.
As well as being an enthusiastic teacher who is passionate about the teaching of Art you will also need to demonstrate a commitment to the extra-curricular life of the school.
The Arts and Technology Faculty is well resourced. It is a very successful and high achieving faculty with outstanding GCSE results and offers extensive extra-curricular options to broaden students’ development not only in the classroom but in the wider community setting of the school.
