What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking to appoint a Teacher of Art ideally with the ability to contribute to GCSE Photography starting September 2024 for a maternity cover. We welcome applications from ECTs or experienced staff.

The Art and Photography department is a well-established part of the school in which our pupils are encouraged to be highly creative as well as develop a genuine love of the arts. The standard of art and photography work is exceptional and our GCSE results exceed national averages. The Department is a welcoming and lively area of the school both during and outside of lesson times, pupils thoroughly enjoy spending time developing their art and photography work.

The successful candidate will be able to inspire and enthuse students through excellent, creative and innovative teaching and have the ability to:

  • plan, prepare and deliver high quality lessons with pace and challenge
  • build and maintain positive relationships with students, parents and staff
  • work on their own initiative and as part of a team
  • contribute to extra-curricular art and photography activities
  • Have the ability to teach photography or have an interest in this area and are willing to have in house training to develop their knowledge further

Litherland High School has been recognised by Ofsted as a 'Good' school in April 2024 and the report states that “Pupils are proud to attend Litherland High School. They appreciate the commitment and care that staff display for them each day. This helps pupils to feel safe, happy and valued in school.” Our ambition for our students and our caring and nurturing approach to education within and beyond the classroom contributes to what makes our school a special place both for both staff and students. Ofsted also stated that “Staff feel well supported by leaders in terms of their workload and well-being.”

What the school offers its staff

Our school is very popular, oversubscribed and full of first choices. We have had no supply teachers for 5 years. Staff attendance is excellent and staff love working at our school with only 3/90 staff leaving in the last 18 months. We have 50% Pupil Premium and 25% SEND. Our students are amazing. We hope that you will love our school as much as we do. This is a very exciting time to join our school as we continue our journey to become an outstanding school.
