Teacher of Art job summary

Salary is on the Main/Upper Pay Spine point dependent upon experience
We are seeking to appoint from September 2019 an inspiring, committed and enthusiastic Teacher of Art to join an outward-looking and high achieving Performing Arts Faculty. The successful candidate will be an outstanding teacher, passionate about their subject, and must be willing to contribute to the wider life of the school. NQT applications are welcome.
The Faculty:
The Performing Arts Faculty is an outstanding, vibrant, busy faculty in which pupils thrive and make excellent progress in all areas; Drama, Music, Art, Physical Education. A team ethos is fundamental. Collaboration is a key aspect of our faculty’s success and as a team, we work very hard to support all pupils ensuring they make excellent progress in their learning. The Faculty has celebrated very good examination results over recent years and we pride ourselves on our constant drive for improvement. As a faculty we believe that the co-curricular and curriculum are just as important in creating a whole child, therefore we offer an extensive and varied enrichment program. These include, Whole School Productions, Primary School Workshop Days, Summer Festivals, Oscar Awards Evening, and Sports Awards Evening, Art Exhibitions as well as a wide range of sporting activities.
We believe that these enrichment activities, high quality teaching and learning, excellent relationships all contribute to inspire and promote a love of learning in the performing arts faculty.

Shevington High School is a very popular 11-16 community school located in the village of Shevington, 3 miles from Wigan town centre and five minutes from the M6 motorway. The school is smaller than the average size secondary school.
In January 2017 the school was judged by Ofsted as Good in all categories and in recognition of our outstanding practice and work with have done to support other schools we have been designated a National Support School.
The school has a strong school vision supported by all stakeholders. Together we have the highest expectations for all our students, inspiring and enabling them to become amazing and successful individuals.
As a School we have developed a learning culture of high aspirations and expectations for all students. We are just at the end of a refurbishment building programme to meet the growth the school is experiencing.
