What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic teacher who will:

  • Be an effective and innovative teacher with a passion for learning.
  • Be an enthusiastic professional committed to providing our students with an outstanding education.
  • Be passionate about teaching and learning; who will bring energy, enthusiasm and new ideas to the classroom and department.
  • Have ambition and desire to play a significant role in the further development of the department.
  • Inspire students to understand what excellence means for them on a personal level and support them to achieve that personal excellence in whatever form it takes.

What the school offers its staff

Due to the continued growth of The Wellington Academy, we are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspirational teacher to join our effective, committed, and supportive Art and Design Department. This is an excellent opportunity for either a newly qualified or more experienced teacher to join an enthusiastic, committed, and successful team. We offer outstanding facilities including a fully equipped and high specification DT workshop.

We are totally committed to peer support and sharing for all teachers within The Wellington Academy. There is a true sense and palpable feel confidence in our development and continued direction of travel from the ‘Good’ in all areas Ofsted inspection in October 2022.

The Wellington Academy opened in 2009 to serve Tidworth, Ludgershall, and the surrounding area: an area with a significant military presence. Consequently, we are proud to educate many children from service families and with the growing super-garrison based on Salisbury plain we expect our numbers to continue to rise.

Our curriculum breadth is focused on ensuring every pupil is exposed to the widest range of subjects possible to equip them to leave school ready to achieve their dreams and fulfil their goals. Our vision for all our pupils is that they become inquisitive, ambitions and independent young adults and when they leave us, they will have the skills, knowledge, and character they need to take them on to university or the workplace.

This is an excellent opportunity for either a newly qualified or more experienced teacher to join an enthusiastic, committed, and successful team.

Commitment to safeguarding

Ascend Learning Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We particularly welcome applications from under-represented groups, including ethnicity, gender, transgender, age, disability, sexual-orientation or religion.

Any position that involves working with children requires declaration of ALL convictions/cautions regardless of whether these are deemed as spent and a DBS check will be carried out.
