The Post
Required for 24 February 2025, the Trustees are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and qualified teacher of Biology who is able to teach in KS4-5 and Science at KS3.
The successful candidate should be able to deliver excellence in the classroom, providing innovative and inspirational teaching and learning.This is an excellent opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced candidate to work with colleagues to build a vibrant and outstanding department.This post is suitable for an enthusiastic professional looking to further their career or a colleague new to the profession.
Biology is an excellent department that is very high performing. Separate Science is taught throughout KS4 to all students and Biology is popular at A Level.
An ability to teach Biology to KS4-5 is essential. An ability to teach another subject to KS4 would be desirable.

Barton Court Academy Trust (BCAT) is a multi-academy Trust which was established in 2017.
It currently consists of three secondary schools: Barton Court Grammar School, an 11-18 years, mixed selective school in the heart of Canterbury, rated “Good” with many outstanding features by Ofsted in February 2020; The Charles Dickens School, an 11-16 years mixed non-selective school in Broadstairs, rated “Good” by Ofsted in March 2023 and Barton Manor Free School, an 11–18 years non-selective mixed school in the heart of Canterbury which opened to Year 7 in September 2022 and as the school grows now has Y7, 8 and 9from September 2024.

Barton Court Grammar School (BCGS)is a state, selective, co-educational school with a strong reputation for its high academic standards and its caring and supportive ethos. The School is an accredited ‘Advanced Thinking School’ and is also the lead school of Barton Court Academy Trust (BCAT).

The Trust opened Barton Manor Free School, an 11 – 18 years non-selective mixed school in the heart of Canterbury and on the former Chaucer School site, in September 2022 to Year 7.
