Teacher of Biology (Maternity Cover)
SALARY : MPS / UPS
CONTRACT : Full time (Part time hours could be negotiated)
TERM : Temporary – 9 months in the first instance
STARTING DATE : 1st September 2022
RESPONSIBLE TO : Head of Science Department
Required from September 2022, a well qualified and enthusiastic teacher who is able to teach across the whole Science curriculum at Key Stage 3. The teacher appointed will be expected to teach Biology at KS4 and all three sciences at KS3. This post is suitable for NQTs or more experienced staff.
The Science department is the largest in the school, consisting of a highly qualified and experienced group of teachers. The examination results are well above the national average and have risen steadily over the last few years. Burford School is a highly successful 11-18 rural comprehensive school with Academy status. Established in 1571, we currently have around 1400 students on roll with a strong Sixth Form of over 200 students. Situated high above the town of Burford, on the eastern edge of the Cotswolds, the school includes a Boarding House with just under 100 boarders from both the UK and abroad.
We serve a widespread rural community and close links are maintained with our nine partner Primary Schools which provide two thirds of our annual intake of approximately 200 students. Some students travel considerable distances from beyond our catchment area, to take up places at the school due to its excellent reputation for academic success, extra-curricular activities and pastoral care, and the growing Sixth Form attracts new members each year.
