Teacher of Biology (Maternity Cover) job summary
Chobham Academy is looking for an experienced, qualified teacher of biology to teach key stage 3 through to key stage 5 for suitable candidates, covering maternity leave.

Your opportunity
The Chobham Academy science department aims to offer all students a broad and varied experience of science education that will equip them with the skills not only to be successful in their academic endeavours, but also so they can participate in society as scientifically literate citizens. Our students are encouraged to be reflective and resilient learners at all times and to take up opportunities to engage with STEM related projects both in school and around London.
The Department is well resourced with equipment, laboratories and technicians that provided services for the three principle subjects: Chemistry, Biology and Physics. The department runs extra-curricular sessions and uses a wide range of teaching learning strategies to promote progress and celebrate the diversity of our students.
The purpose of your role will be:
To implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students and to support a designated curriculum area as appropriate
To monitor and support the overall progress and development of students as a teacher/form tutor
To facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential
To support the subject area as appropriate and provide direction for Subject Lead and teachers
To contribute to raising standards of student attainment
To share and support the Academy’s responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth

The successful candidate will:
Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree
Have successful teaching experience at secondary level (can be teaching practice)
Show an understanding of the theory and practice of effective teaching and learning
Have knowledge of National Curriculum requirements at KS3, 4 and 5
Understand the importance of having high expectations for all students, both of behaviour and academic achievement
Understand inclusive provision and practices which offer equality of access to the curriculum for all students, including SEND, EAL and high achievers
Have knowledge and experience of writing lesson plans, developing resources and assessing students' work
Have a good level of ICT skills
Understand the importance of being a Tutor.
