Teacher of Biology (Maternity Post) job summary

Department information

Science teachers at the Academy plan and teach a curriculum which is inspiring and challenging and includes creative ideas with lively enriching activities. We have a team that is supportive, proactive and dedicated to ensuring that every child at TGAW is able to flourish and grow.

Students have three science teachers, and are taught the sciences by subject specialists. Our mastery ethos with regards to our content delivery, our sequencing of curriculum and marking policy have all been praised for being forward thinking and considerate of staff workload and well-being.

This department is a very hard-working department, completely committed to excellence. This is a school where we are raising the profile of science in line with Progress 8 and students are enthusiastic about the lessons and practical activities we deliver. We offer STEM and astrology as an extracurricular activity and are always looking for ways that this can be developed to be as inclusive for as many of our students as possible. We host sixth form students in the prep room to add to their enrichment programme, and to deepen their skills to ensure that they can be successful during their A Level studies.

We are proud of the fantastic progress since the Academy opened and are proud of the friendly and work focused relationship that the Science staff engender with the students. We work collaboratively with all the schools within the Trust to share expertise and benefit from more robust and reliable assessment data.
