Teacher of Boys PE job summary
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed teacher of Physical Education who has a high expectation of students and themselves and who will motivate and inspire pupils to achieve their best. The successful candidate should have the ability to teach a range of activities from KS3 to KS4. This is a permanent full-time position commencing September 2022.
The PE Department is well organised and resourced and provides a supportive working atmosphere for staff. PE is part of the core curriculum at KS3 and 4 and is also a popular choice at examination level for GCSE. In 2019, 66% of GCSE PE students achieved 7-9 grades. The successful candidate would have the opportunity to teach GCSE PE. In addition, a large proportion of students take part in a growing range of extra-curricular activities, including International Sports Tours. Football is extremely strong, and the successful applicant will be expected to play a key role in its continued development. Rugby and Basketball are growing, and we would love to hear from applicants who believe they could make a significant contribution to the continued development of these sports, along with a summer sport of either Athletics or Cricket.
Outdoor Education plays a large part in the Latymer extended curriculum. We have a field centre in Wales where all students in Years 7 take part in a range of outdoor adventure activities and in Year 9 students go to a residential centre in Conwy Anglesey. Many pupils take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme.
