Are you an ambitious and talented business studies and economics teacher who wants to teach in our vibrant, high achieving and multicultural faith school? An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, highly motivated professional to join our department in a supportive and team-orientated School. We are looking for individuals who will contribute to the current whole school teaching and learning strategies and develop their own teaching practice in collaboration with the whole department.

We believe our best resource are our teachers. Within the school and department we have a programme of research based CPD ensuring that the students are at the heart of all we do and colleagues have the opportunity to develop personally and professionally as well as share their passion with others if they wish. Our curriculum is centrally resourced using booklets to decrease staff workload.

Our School

Cardinal Newman School is an 11-19 comprehensive school, serving the Roman Catholic community in Luton and Dunstable. We are an oversubscribed school and have a thriving Sixth Form with 300 students. We have been consistently described by Ofsted as a ‘good’ school and under Section 48 as an ‘outstanding Catholic school’. The department is well resourced and works collaboratively to reduce to workload of all staff. Cardinal Newman provides a dynamic, friendly and vibrant environment where support, training and development for all staff is our top priority. We’d like to hear from candidates who will:

  • Put students’ learning and welfare at the centre of all of their practice and decision making.
  • Have a clear vision for effective learning and teaching across their department that reflects and complements whole school ethos
  • Model excellent classroom practice.
  • Maintain an active critical interest in educational research and their own professional development by engaging in CPD opportunities provided by the school.
  • Manage and evaluate effective systems for the assessment and tracking of learning, as well as implement a range of sustainable intervention strategies, to ensure all students make excellent progress.
  • Work to sustain their expert subject knowledge.
  • Work to build strong professional relationships.
  • Be able to motivate and inspire students and staff to achieve their full potential
