Teacher of Business Studies and Economics job summary
Due to the continued growth of the subject, Simon Langton Girls’ Grammar School is seeking to appoint a part time teacher of Business Studies and Economics from September 2022. Whilst the role would ideally be for somebody looking to work approximately 0.6, we would consider going higher, and up to full time, to secure the right appointment.
We welcome applications from talented individuals who will dedicate themselves to the implementation of the school and department’s vision and the continued development of the department. The successful applicant must be passionate about their subject and have the drive to maintain superb academic results.
This role is suitable of either an Early Career Teachers (ECT) or somebody already teaching but ambitious to develop their career further. The successful candidate must be confident in teaching both Business Studies and Economics at A Level. An interest in, and experience of, the development of extra-curricular opportunities, including young enterprise, business and economic essay competitions and the Investor Challenge, is essential.
The department is comprised of two teachers, located in adjacent rooms in our humanities block. At A Level, approximately 80 students undertake one of the two courses.
Students frequently leave the department to undertake related courses at top university, with a consistently high number progressing to Oxbridge, Russell Group and other top-20 universities.
Our school places the same importance on academic excellence as it does on mental wellbeing and the development of non-examined skills. Teachers are given the opportunity to develop and lead research opportunities; previous and current projects have been/are supported by the likes of the Royal Society, major pharmaceutical companies and top universities. These projects feed into the rich and varied offer delivered through the Langton Extended Curriculum, working to ensure that we help shape ambition, confident, independent and creative students, ready to take their place in society.
The successful candidate will be offered a full programme of personal professional development and support as they continue in their career, alongside a comprehensive induction programme.
