Teacher of Business Studies - Maternity Cover job summary

The WMG Academy Trust Board seek to appoint a motivated, dedicated and aspirational teacher of Business Studies to inspire their students.

Energetic? Innovative? Passionate? Work with us and our partners (University of Warwick, Jaguar Land Rover, National Grid and many more) to deliver a skills-based curriculum in a high achieving environment.

The WMG Trust Board opened its first Academy in Coventry on Monday 8th September 2014 for up to 640 students aged 14 - 19. The second academy in North Solihull opened in a brand new purpose built building in September 2016. The academy received its first Ofsted inspection in February 2019 and was rated Good in all categories. This post is a maternity cover position for the Solihull Academy.

You will be a key member of the WMG Academy Solihull team, delivering outstanding teaching across KS4 and KS5. You will have experience of working in a school or college setting as well as a good understanding of the needs of 14-19 year old students.
Business Studies is taught at Key Stage 4 and 5. At Key Stage 4 students follow the OCR GCSE Business course and at Key Stage 5 students follow the Edexcel National Extended Certificate in Business.

The key academic sponsor of the Academy is the University of Warwick. The Solihull Academy is located adjacent to Chelmsley Wood Shopping Centre in North Solihull and boasts over £2 million of specialist equipment and ICT. Our relationship with a broad range of local, national and international business partners will allow the successful candidate to link his/her teaching to an applied, employment-led educational environment.

The WMG Academy for Young Engineers Multi Academy Trust was formed in March 2015. Following the successful opening of the Coventry Academy in September 2014, the WMG Academy Trust opened its second Academy in September 2016 in North Solihull.
Formed between a partnership of the University of Warwick and with the support of national, regional and local businesses such as Jaguar Land Rover, National Grid, and Rolls-Royce, the Trust is committed to providing a better way of learning for the Engineers of the future.

WMG Academy for Young Engineers Coventry
Opened in September 2014 by Ratan Tata, the Coventry Academy has over 450 students on roll. Located close to the Westwood area in Canley and the University of Warwick, the Coventry Academy was designed with a large Engineering Hall filled with over £1M worth of specialist equipment. Three additional dedicated CAD/CAM areas allow industry standard software to be used by students in their Engineering projects.
WMG Academy Coventry was rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in 2022 and WMG Academy Solihull was rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in 2019.

WMG Academy for Young Engineers Solihull
Opened in September 2016, the Solihull Academy boasts over £2M of specialist equipment and ICT and currently has over 400 students on roll. Developed along a similar open plan design to Coventry, the Solihull Academy occupies a slightly bigger footprint.
Dedicated ICT facilities include 3 CAD suites and student PC access in all teaching rooms giving unrivalled access to industry standard software. These facilities allow innovative teaching pedagogy through digital technologies. A large Engineering Hall, complemented by ‘Make and Do’ areas above, allows a flexible group-work approach to learning.
