Job summary

We have a unique opportunity to appoint a dynamic and innovative Teacher of Chemistry to teach Chemistry throughout the school at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. We would welcome applications from Newly or Recently Qualified Teachers, as well as trainee teachers due to qualify by July 2020.

Essential educational requirements

The post would suit either an NQT or experienced teacher.

Essential qualifications

A first degree in a subject relevant to the teaching post.
A DfE recognised teaching qualification.
A commitment to the continuing professional development of all members of the Department.
A commitment to further professional development.

Essential skills and experience

Have an excellent record of successful teaching.
Outstanding planning, assessment, marking and record-keeping.
Be proactive in raising standards, initiating and maintaining innovative curriculum design and delivery.
Understand and respond to all current educational initiatives which apply to the subject.
Excellent communication, problem-solving skills, subject knowledge and ICT skills.
Be dedicated to the success of the students, department and pastoral teams, the school and themselves.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and as part of a team.
Commitment to extra-curricular activities and to the school’s involvement in the wider community, including supporting 11+ testing day.
Have enthusiasm, energy, resilience and vision.

About Colchester County High School for Girls

Colchester County High School for Girls is part of Alpha Trust. It is a selective state school for academically able students aged from 11 to 18 years which consistently achieves public examination results at the highest level and Ofsted "Outstanding". Admission to the school is via the 11+ examination in Year 7; the school also admits academic students to the Sixth Form. The school is lead for the North East Essex Teaching School Alliance and Colchester Teacher Training Consortium is based on the site.
