What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking an passionate and forward-thinking teacher of Chemistry to join the department. You should be committed, enthusiastic, and enjoy a challenge.

You will be prepared to work hard within the team and be ambitious both on a personal level and for the department. The ability to motivate students, maintain standards, and be organised is vital.

Some experience of teaching Applied Science would be an advantage and the ability to teach Maths would be an added bonus.

What the school offers its staff

The Heart of Mercia Multi-Academy Trust (MAT), formed on 1 April 2019 and delivers post 16 education in Hereford, Stourbridge and Worcester. Hereford Sixth Form College is part of this Trust. The MAT has an annual budget of £28m and serves the needs of 5,500 students across the region.

Hereford Sixth Form College has over 2000full-time 16-19 students and an excellent reputation for its results and extra-curricular provision. Rated Ofsted outstanding in 2023, the college consistently achieves one of the highest Advanced Level points scores per entry of over 100 SFCs nationally and has outstanding value added results.

Teachers in Chemistry work closely together, following a common programme and using a variety of methods. This post provides an excellent opportunity for a suitably qualified person to join an experienced team of Chemistry teachers. The department is well-resourced, and the use of IT is being developed. Emphasis is placed on providing a supportive working environment for teachers, liaising over schemes of work, and sharing good practice.
