Ulverston Victoria High School is a happy and thriving 11-18 school and sixth form and is at the heart of the community in the picturesque South Lakeland market town of Ulverston.

An exceptional school, which is defined equally by its high academic achievements and its warmth and inclusivity, our students and their teachers work hard, seek to achieve the very highest standards in all they do and are respectful of each other and of their community.

The Governing Body is seeking to appoint, with effect from 1st September 2020, an outstanding and motivated teacher of Chemistry. The successful candidate will have an essential ability to teach Chemistry at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.

We welcome applications from professional, effective and motivated NQTs and experienced teachers, who are keen to join our high performing team at Ulverston Victoria High School. A full and appropriate induction programme is available for all NQTs.

The successful candidate will share our passion for education and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills. He or she will be clearly in tune with our values and our ethos of “children first” and be totally committed to providing a deep and rewarding experience in Chemistry for all our students regardless of their academic ability. This is a great opportunity for an exceptional and vibrant practitioner to join and contribute to a high-performing department. GCSE science results for progress have consistently been in the top 20% of the country across both combined science and separate science. A-level numbers are healthy and Chemistry is a very popular choice with five groups in the sixth form. During the 2018 Ofsted inspection, the inspectors took time to note in their report that ’students make exceptional progress in science’.

UVHS is a brilliant place to be a student or teacher. There is a dynamic, caring atmosphere that pervades the whole school and a real desire to inspire and achieve. The faculty thrives on exploring new ways of teaching and there is a real buzz of enthusiasm for the subject in the school.

If you are a candidate committed to high quality teaching and learning who wants to develop your career in an exceptional school, working closely with colleagues who share that passion, then we would be pleased to hear from you.
