Teacher of Computer Science job summary

From Python to HTML, Computer Networks to Binary; join our growing Computer Science Team to help our students experience the joy of creating their first programs, websites, and apps while teaching them to thrive in our technological world.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing Computer Science Department to help students prepare for jobs that might not even exist yet! Through an exciting curriculum, KS3 students learn to create their first programs, build websites, create their own apps and program Micro-Bits whilst also learning about the history of computing, how computers work and how to keep themselves safe online. This is then built on in KS4 where we prepare students to gain a GCSE in Computer Science, preparing them for their future careers. This is a great opportunity for an ambitious and passionate teacher to encourage future computer programmers who can go out and change the way we use technology.

Oasis Academy John Williams is a secondary academy in Hengrove [South Bristol] which currently serves just over 880 young people. We are housed in a modern new build [new build opened in September 2010] with a host of subject specialist rooms and in December 2016 we further enhanced our facilities with a state of the art AstroTurf and tartan-running strip.

The Academy is part of the Oasis Bristol hub with has three secondary schools with two additional free schools due to open in the near future. Our last Ofsted inspection was in September 2017 where we were again judged to be a ‘Good’ school with ‘Outstanding’ Leadership and Management.

Our student population is 84% White British, 16% SEND, 43% Disadvantaged and 32% FSM. We are proud to be the school of choice for so many in our local community and have been heavily over-subscribed for the past five years.
