JOB DESCRIPTION
For April 2022 or September 2022, we are looking to appoint a teacher of Computer Science to join a highly successful, and growing, Computer Science department at Avanti House Secondary School.
We are seeking an innovative, enthusiastic and dedicated Computer Science teacher to join the department that enjoys an excellent reputation both within and beyond the school. Our GCSE Computer Science cohort of 2022 achieved an impressive 28% grade 9-7 and 86% grade 4+ .The progress 8 score for the school has consistently placed the school in the top 5% of school’s nationally, the Key Stage four progress score for 2021 was +1.19 placing Avanti House in the top 1%. If you are an outstanding practitioner with the ability to inspire and motivate students and who is keen focus on teaching and learning and continue to develop or start their career, we would like to hear from you.
The successful candidate will not only be passionate about their subject, and have exceptional subject knowledge, but also have a passion and drive to contribute to the teaching, learning and delivery to engage students in their studying of Computer Science throughout all key stages. The outstanding behaviour of our students truly gives you the opportunity to teach your subject and deliver exciting and engaging lessons. The successful applicant will play a key role in AQA A Level and GCSE and the growth of STEM and it’s applications throughout the school. We have specialist facilities for the teaching of computer studies and are also looking for the right candidate to join the growing department onto the next steps of application and understanding. There is the opportunity to have a strong input into the rapidly developing remote learning at Avanti House giving opportunities for career growth not only in the school but at trust level. The school has now moved to its new £25-million-pound building, you will be able to teach in facilities that are up to date and at the cutting edge of technology. You will have your own classroom space dedicated to your subject enabling you to develop the very best teaching and learning practices. There are a full range of other facilities including state of the art sports grounds and hall, performing arts spaces and fantastic teaching rooms.
About the school
Avanti House is a secondary school 11-19 school that opened in 2012. Currently there are 1,200 students with a Sixth Form of Year 12 & 13. The school is consistently over-subscribed in applications for the year 7 intake each year.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
• Deliver the curriculum as relevant to the age and ability group/subject/s that you teach
• Be responsible for the preparation and development of teaching materials, teaching programmes and pastoral arrangements as appropriate
• Be accountable for the attainment, progress and outcomes of pupils’ you teach
• Be aware of pupils’ capabilities, their prior knowledge and plan teaching and differentiate appropriately to build on these, demonstrating knowledge and understanding of how pupils learn
