What skills and experience we're looking for

In addition to the job specification for teaching staff, the Second in Department in Computing will include the following additional responsibilities:

  • To manage and lead staff in the co-ordination of one strand of Computing through KS3, KS4 and KS5, setting high professional standards – agreeable prior to each academic year.
  • To oversee and manage schemes of work for the strand assigned.
  • To support the Head of Computing, deputising as appropriate.
  • To have an up-to-date knowledge of all subject areas within the faculty.
  • To contribute to the development of faculty plans and targets which contribute to improvement.
  • To establish and maintain good discipline in the faculty.
  • To monitor teaching within the faculty.
  • To monitor pupil progress through the Academy’s assessment procedure and day-to-day marking.
  • To build links with outside agencies, including other educational establishments within their assigned strand.
  • To contribute to the work of an Academy.
