TEACHER OF COMPUTING
(MATERNITY COVER – anticipated 1 year post)

Join a leading school which prides itself on the high quality of education, enrichment and care provided to all and is committed to the wellbeing of students and staff.

We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, knowledgeable, and inspirational teacher of computing who is committed to the highest standards of learning, teaching, and achievement. This is an exciting opportunity to teach computing across key stages 3-5 and progress your career in a school where both student achievement and attitudes to learning are amongst the best in the region.

The successful candidate will have very high expectations and an unwavering commitment to all students maximising their potential through outstanding learning, teaching, and support. We welcome applications from Early Career Teachers, as well as those who are more experienced. The role is required from September 2022 until the return of the substantive postholder. We anticipate this role to be a 1-year contract.

We are a fantastic learning community, set in one of Yorkshire’s most scenic areas, whose facilities have recently been enhanced by the completion of a multi-million-pound refurbishment and expansion project. Our Ofsted inspection of March 2017 confirmed us as an ‘Outstanding’ school in all areas, where students “attain highly and make excellent progress”, where behaviour is “exemplary” and where “teachers go the extra mile to make sure students achieve, feel cared for and thrive within a supportive and productive learning environment”. Since Ofsted’s highly positive endorsement, the school has continued to go from strength to strength with progress in 2019 well above average and in the top 10% of all schools nationally. Our success was also recognised in The Sunday Times Schools Guide 2022 with Ilkley Grammar School ranked in the top three best state secondary comprehensive schools in the north of England and named overall 7th best state secondary school in the north of the country.

If you have the subject expertise, vision, commitment, and people skills to contribute to this successful department, coupled with the ability to engage and enthuse our students with a love of computing, then we would like to hear from you.

Ilkley Grammar School is an outstanding, vibrant 11-18 comprehensive, with over a 400-year tradition of serving the local community. We are committed to Personal Best as reflected in our Vision and Values:

“Our vision at Ilkley Grammar School is to provide an exceptional, inclusive learning experience at the heart of our community. Our students will achieve their academic personal best and will be equipped with the confidence and skills to make a positive difference to their own lives and the lives of others. We will achieve this through modelling our core values and attributes in the way we work together.”

We are the founding school of Moorlands Learning Trust and a member of the Red Kite Teaching School Alliance with a firm commitment to school-to-school support and developing highly effective collaborative practices.

We are looking for:

 a dedicated and passionate teacher of computing who has resilience and a strong, positive work ethic
 a commitment to providing high quality lessons to engage, challenge and inspire our students
 an individual with the ability to teach computing up to key stage 5
 a colleague who is inspirational to colleagues and students and committed to sharing best practice
 a strong commitment to extra-curricular and enrichment opportunities

In return for your commitment, we can offer:

 the opportunity to make a real difference
 students with ‘highly positive attitudes to learning’
 personalised CPD with a strong commitment to professional growth and developing individual career paths
 a commitment to mobile technologies
 a very calm and orderly school with high expectations and an ethos of trust and care
 a committed and established staff and a supportive leadership team, parents, and Governors
 a location on the edge of Ilkley Moor in beautiful Wharfedale with good transport links to Leeds and Bradford. Ilkley has recently been judged to be the best place to live in the country

Closing date for applications: 8am, Monday 16th May 2022
Provisional interview date: Week commencing 16th May 2022
