What skills and experience we're looking for

Newton Abbot College, part of the Ivy Education Trust, is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic individual with drive, passion and creativity to inspire and motivate students to achieve beyond their expectations across all three key stages. The KS3 Computing curriculum teaches students the skills and knowledge of computer science, combined with the practical everyday skills of IT that they need to be successful in the world. We pride ourselves on the breadth of Computing qualifications we offer our students across KS4 and KS5 allowing them to find their niche and achieve great things. September 2024 sees the start of a really exciting development in Computing, as we roll out a common curriculum across both Newton Abbot College and Teignmouth Community School, which incorporates Computer Science, IT, e-Sports and i-Media, allowing the power of collaboration to see the subject go from strength to strength as our departments work together, giving teachers the opportunity to deliver different key stages, different Computing qualifications across both sites.

This is therefore a really exciting time to join the department as an ECT or more experienced teacher; and for the right candidate, there is the opportunity to lead curriculum development and its enactment in the classroom across both schools and across all three key stages, either through a Key Stage leadership role, or through a Lead Practitioner role, in addition to teaching A level.

So if you are an inspirational, dedicated and forward-thinking classroom practitioner, have very high standards of yourself and your students, can demonstrate adaptability and excellent planning and organisational skills; as well as being an excellent team player then we want to hear from you!

We would welcome applications from ECTs.
